PICNICS – Consider a romantic picnic at one of our parks  – Pioneer Park  has a fabulous over-view of Stillwater and Lowell Park is right on the river promenade.

A St. Croix Loop Trail

The St. Croix Crossing Bike/Pedestrian Loop Trail (MNDOT Fact Sheet, video animation) project will include construction of the trail from downtown Stillwater’s historic lift bridge over to Wisconsin and back across the new St. Croix Crossing bridge into downtown Stillwater along the river for a total of 4.7 miles.  As of August 3, the historic lift bridge is closed for rennovations (hoping to open Spring 2019) and the new bridge is open. The majority of the Loop Trail is complete (Progress Map) so you can enjoy a walk or bike ride over the new bridge for amazing views of the valley. Park near at Houlton Elementary school (70 Cty Rd E, Houlton, WI54082) on the Wisconsin side or downtown Stillwater in city lots or the new lot near the bridge just off hwy 95. Here is a Loop Trail Map of the project once completed. The best part to ride for now, is from downtown Stillwater south over the new St. Croix Crossing bridge. For an even longer route, ride through downtown Stillwater to connect with the Brown’s Creek State Trail on the north end. Segway tours are also available over the bridge!

If you get hungry or thirsty while biking, be sure to seek out this food truck along the trail to re-energize! Access the food truck via the Gateway Trail near mile marker 15 between hwy 96 and Lansing Ave. If you are on the Brown’s Creek trail, it’s located just northeast of the intersection of the Gateway and Brown’s Creek trail. New for the 2018 season, comfort cruiser electric bike rental! Rent for 2, 4, or 8 hours. (To reach this site by car for bike rental, use this address: 9760 Lansing ave. N). Bikes will come with a basket, helmet and lock for the bike. Bring a credit card and driver’s license to secure bike. Picnic lunch to go options available as well!

Valentine’s Day

Every year, the Stillwater Visitor’s Bureau sponsors free horse-dawn carriage rides downtown along the river. Snuggle under warm blankets and enjoy time together during the beautiful February winter weather. Dates/times vary so check the events calendar for details. No ticket required. First come first serve.

Zephyr Studio

Classes for students in grades 1-12 to explore and study drama, comedy, or musical theatre while sharpening your acting skills in our temporary Main Street studio location.  Find class descriptions on our website.

Future plans: As a professional theatre in the St. Croix Valley, The 300-seat Zephyr Theatre at the old train depot will produce productions of the highest quality that are visually, acoustically, and artistically beautiful. We will create and revive classic musicals and plays, while incorporating music, musical cultures, and dance into the live arts in meaningful ways.
