FootGolf is a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf. The game is played with a regular soccer ball at a golf course on shortened holes and the players kick the ball into a 21-inch diameter cup. The rules for FootGolf largely correspond to the rules of golf. The Oak Glen FootGolf Course consists of 18-holes and is a par 68 layout constructed throughout the Executive Golf Course. The FootGolf Course is open 7 days a week and tee times are recommended. FootGolf takes about half the amount of time as golf does so it is a perfect way to get the whole family involved – golfers can golf while non-golfers can footgolf. You are encouraged to bring your own soccer balls and tennis shoes or soccer shoes are required.

A St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail

The St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail (MNDOT Fact Sheet, video animation) project will include construction of the trail from downtown Stillwater’s historic lift bridge over to Wisconsin and back across the new St. Croix Crossing bridge into downtown Stillwater along the river for a total of 4.7 miles.  As of August 3, 2017 the historic lift bridge is closed for renovations (Opens June 1, 2020) and the new bridge is open. The majority of the Loop Trail is complete (Progress Map) so you can enjoy a walk or bike ride over the new bridge for amazing views of the valley. Park near at Houlton Elementary school (70 Cty Rd E, Houlton, WI54082) on the Wisconsin side or downtown Stillwater in city lots or the new lot near the bridge just off hwy 95.  The best part to ride for now, is from downtown Stillwater south over the new St. Croix Crossing bridge. For an even longer route, ride through downtown Stillwater to connect with the Brown’s Creek State Trail on the north end. Refer to the map in our Visitor Guide and pictured above for all connecting trails.

This is a web-based FREE app that allows you to view historical sites in Stillwater, Minnesota linked to their GPS locations – view how the site looked in the past right on your smartphone! It is a tribute to well known photographer John Runk and includes current and historical photos, audio and written narratives along with the surprise and magic of today’s digital image and location technology. The Lens Flare Stillwater project won The Great Idea Competition in 2016 from The Stillwater Area Foundation. Carry the history of Stillwater in your pocket while travelling through a geo-location time tunnel!  To experience historic Stillwater from an armchair, people use the web site by itself.

The Zephyr Theatre produces plays, musicals, and other theatrical performances, as well as concerts and dance performances.   In addition, the Theatre works in collaboration with the St Croix Film Society to show classic films.  Our theatre, music, dance, and art classes for students in preschool – 12th grade allow students to explore and study the creative arts. Future plans: As a professional theatre in the St. Croix Valley, the 330-seat Zephyr Theatre at the old train depot will produce productions of the highest quality that are visually, acoustically, and artistically beautiful. We will create and revive classic musicals and plays, while incorporating music, musical cultures, and dance into the live arts in meaningful ways.

River City Sculpture Tour

Stillwater’s lift bridge (1931) spans the St. Croix River between Stillwater and Houlton, WI and is one of three remaining lift bridges in the U.S. today.
